Attendance Policy
The school day begins at
8:30 A.M. and ends at 3:05 P.M. If there is an early dismissal, the day will
end at 11:30 A.M. or as noted on the calendar. Regular school attendance is
mandatory for scholastic achievement.
ABSENCES
Holy
Childhood School adheres to all State of Minnesota regulations concerning school
attendance. While absent, students are responsible for all missed assignments
and tests and arrangements should be made with teacher(s) for completion of this
work.
Teachers will not
be able to provide schoolwork in advance of an extended absence elected because
of vacation. When a parent requests an extended absence for a child, the request
is placed in the child’s cumulative folder to insure proper maintenance of the
student’s permanent record. Students are required to make up all tests, class
work, and homework after such absences.
When an absence is
necessary, these steps are to be followed:
-
The parent or guardian
MUST call the school each morning of a student’s absence by 8:30 am. Please
do not rely on siblings to pass this information to the office.
-
The parent or guardian
must write an excuse giving name, date, days of absence, and specific reason
for absence (flu, cold, fever, allergies, etc.). The student will present
this written excuse to his/her teacher(s) upon his/her return to school.
-
The Student will make
immediate plans to do all make-up work and tests due to absence(s) upon
return to school.
-
Homework to be sent home
to an absentee should be requested by the parent or guardian before school
begins that morning.
-
If absence is due to
work, travel, or some other reason, the parent or guardian should notify the
school prior to the absence and as soon as possible. Work will not be
issued ahead of time for students who anticipate being out of school. This
will need to be made up upon the student’s return.
TARDINESS
Students should be in their
classroom prepared for class by 8:25 am. Students who arrive after the 8:30 am
bell are considered tardy and must report to the school office to obtain a late
slip to present to the homeroom teacher. Every effort should be made to have
students report to school on time. Six (6) tardies in a trimester will result in
a conference with the parent or guardian.
