Eligibility For Athletics and Extra-Curricular Activities
The two areas which qualify
a student as a member of a team, organization, or club are academics and
behavior.
Academics
Membership in an
extracurricular activity requires that a student:
-
Maintain at least a C
average throughout the season, with some modification for a student with
educational disabilities.
-
During a 2-3 week
period, the student’s academic performance will be evaluated, particularly
in regard to homework expectations. If these expectations are not met
satisfactorily, the principal may recommend to the athletic director or club
moderator that the student be suspended from the next game or performance,
with the possibility of not resuming play until academic expectations are
met.
-
An F on any progress
report or trimester report cards will result in suspension or being dropped
from a team, organization, or club.
Behavior
Behavioral guidelines
determining membership include:
-
Behavioral detentions
may result in denial of activity privilege determined by the principal,
teachers, and the athletic director.
-
An in-school suspension
results in the student not being allowed to participate in the next
scheduled game or event. A subsequent in-school suspension will result in
removal from the team.
-
An
out-of-school suspension may result in the student being removed from the
team.
